Info Post

The devastating floods in Assam have affected the lives of over 1 million people, marooning over 20 districts in Brahmaputra and Barak Valleys.HELP US SAVE LIVES
At least 77 people have lost their lives. Households, shops, roads, water pumps have been affected, damaged or submerged – leaving people homeless without food and clean drinking water.
As in most emergency situations, children are the worst affected victims. These situations heighten their vulnerability and expose them to abuse and threaten their very survival. Moreover, the risk of disease outbreak in flood-struck areas remains high.
Children, therefore, are in critical need of nutrition support and protection during this tumultuous time.
Save the Children has already started its emergency relief work in Assam, helping the affected families to recover and re-establish their lives, dignity and livelihoods.
We are working closely with government agencies, other non-government organisations and local partners to mount a rapid response that ensures safety and security of the affected children and their families.
The scale of need is significant, and a much larger relief effort is urgently required to reach the vulnerable families. The immediate requirements include clean drinking water (water treatment kits), hygiene kits, temporary shelters, dry food and infant supplementary foods.
But we cannot do this alone. We need your support to help these families
Yours Sincerely,
Irwin Fernandes
